This has been acknowledged as a bug by the ZF team and an issue has been created:

<a href="http://framework.zend.com/issues/browse/ZF-4107" title="Zend Framework Issue Tracker">http://framework.zend.com/issues/browse/ZF-4107</a>.

Hopefully it will be included in the next release.
